The Rice Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Blooming Grove Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rice will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.
Even though Malakoff scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Rice still came out on top. Rice walked away with a 63-56 win over Malakoff.
It was another big night for Saniya Burks, who scored 48 points. That makes it 19 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Rice's points.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 25-25 at halftime, Blooming Grove was not quite Scurry-Rosser's equal in the second half on Friday. Blooming Grove took a 44-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Scurry-Rosser.
Rice's victory was their 15th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. As for Blooming Grove, their loss dropped their record down to 14-13.
Everything came up roses for Rice against Blooming Grove in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 75-43 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rice since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
