Baseball Recap: Griffith Takes a Loss

Griffith dropped their record down to 7-3 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Boone Grove Wolves. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Wolves from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Boone Grove, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 5-4. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won four matches by nine runs or more so far this season.

For Boone Grove's part, Javy Carrera made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Carrera was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Boone Grove let Ben Truby and Seth Pitcock run wild. Truby went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Pitcock got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Pitcock has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Veschak, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Griffith will take on Illiana Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Boone Grove, they will face off against Morgan Township at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
