The Weatherford Kangaroos will take on the Birdville Hawks at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Weatherford's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Birdville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Weatherford had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Azle on Thursday. Everything went Weatherford's way against Azle as Weatherford made off with a 9-2 win. The Kangaroos' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kaden Fleming tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.
At the plate, Diego Hernandez was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Jett Vindiola, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Birdville came into Thursday's matchup having lost nine straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Martin 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since April 12, 2024.
Luke Banner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits.
On the hitting side, Birdville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carsen Blake, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Blake also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Birdville's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Weatherford, their record now sits at 4-5-1.
Everything went Weatherford's way against Birdville in their previous meeting back in February of 2017, as Weatherford made off with a 10-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Weatherford since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
