Vista Ridge is on a three-game streak of home losses, McNeil a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Vista Ridge Rangers will take on the McNeil Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Tuesday, Vista Ridge lost to Cedar Ridge on the road by a decisive 59-42 margin. While losing is never fun, Vista Ridge can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 674th, while Cedar Ridge is ranked 217th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gavin Howard, who scored 11 points along with two steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Pando, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, McNeil pushed their score all the way to 62 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Manor by a score of 64-62. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for McNeil in their matchups with Manor: they've now lost four in a row.
Vista Ridge has been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season. As for McNeil, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-15.
Vista Ridge came up short against McNeil in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 75-67. Will Vista Ridge have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
