After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three contests, the South Salem Saxons finally came back down to earth on Saturday. They were beaten by St. Joseph 98-23. South Salem was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-9.
Tounde Yessoufou was his usual excellent self, shooting 5-for-7 from long range and dropping a double-double on 42 points and 11 rebounds for St. Joseph. The match was Yessoufou's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Julius Price was another key contributor, scoring 23 points along with six assists.
South Salem's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for St. Joseph, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
South Salem will be home for the holidays to greet Cascade Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. St. Joseph will take on Beaverton in a holiday battle at 4:00 p.m. on Monday at. One thing working in Beaverton's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
