The Wyoming Area Warriors will take on MMI Preparatory School at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Western Wayne hit Wyoming Area with a four-run third inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors fell 6-3 to the Wildcats.
Wyoming Area got a good showing from Kristian Pugliese, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, Pugliese didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024.
At the plate, Wyoming Area saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bruno Pizzano, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Chase Speicher was another, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask MMI Preparatory School). They never let Tunkhannock get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Wednesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded MMI Preparatory School with their most commanding win of the season.
Joshua Witner was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Witner was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
MMI Preparatory School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
MMI Preparatory School now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Wyoming Area, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wyoming Area has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like MMI Preparatory School struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
