Baseball Game Preview: Neshannock Lancers vs. New Brighton Lions

For the second straight game, Neshannock will face off against New Brighton. The Lancers will venture away from home to face off against the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neshannock will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Neshannock proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against New Brighton, sneaking past 11-9.

Neshannock got a great performance from Denny Joseph as he struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts Joseph has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Nathan Rickel was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luca Pagley, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Neshannock was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .464. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in 13 consecutive matchups.

Neshannock's victory bumped their record up to 16-2. As for New Brighton, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-9 record.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Neshannock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .443. However, it's not like New Brighton struggles in that department as they've averaged .366. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
