The St. Edward Beavers suffered their biggest  defeat yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Santee at home  and fell  80-30. St. Edward was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at  55-17.
 When it comes to explaining why St. Edward lost, one person who can't be blamed is  Anthony Reader. Despite the final result, he  scored 16 points along with two  steals. That was a full 53.3% of St. Edward's points, marking the third time in a row he's  earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Marcos Paez, who  scored four points.
 This is  the second loss in a row for St. Edward and  nudges their season record down to 3-8. As for Santee, the  win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
 St. Edward will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fullerton at 6:00  p.m.  on January 17th. Fullerton is hoping to put an end to  a four-game streak of away losses. Santee will have some time to savor their  victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on St. Mary's at 7:00  p.m.  on January 16th. St. Mary's is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
