The Sayre Spartans lost against the Bluegrass United Bluehawks back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Sayre took a serious blow against the Bluehawks, falling 59-21. Sayre was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-10.
Bluegrass United got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Allie McGuire out in front who scored 16 points along with four steals. McGuire is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Grace Hanlon was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three steals.
Sayre dropped their record down to 4-18 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Bluegrass United, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sayre will take on the Generals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Thomas Nelson will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Bluegrass United, they will be playing at home against the Trailblazers at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Cincinnati Trailblazers HomeSchool will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 240th in Ohio, while the Bluehawks are ranked 110th in Kentucky).
