Baseball Recap: White River Takes a Loss

White River couldn't beat Federal Way on Tuesday even though they stacked six runs on them in the sixth inning. The Hornets fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 9-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on Monday.

Jaxson Whiting and Landon Hill stepped up to the plate in a big way. Whiting got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI, while Hill got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Hill has become a key player for White River: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jackson Rock, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

White River has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Federal Way, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-4.

Coming up, White River is taking a road trip to take on Steilacoom at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Federal Way, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Jefferson at 4:00 p.m.
