Norwayne has won seven straight games at home, while Elyria Catholic has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. CJ Moore made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MaKenna Heyden, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Riley Gwinn, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Norwayne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chippewa only posted an OBP of .273.
Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy hit Elyria Catholic with a four-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers fell just short of the Royals by a score of 8-7.
Paytin Baehr and Jessica Conner stepped up to the plate in a big way. Baehr fired off two home runs while going 3-for-4, while Conner went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Norwayne's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Elyria Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-3.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Norwayne hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .382. However, it's not like Elyria Catholic struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
