The Dunbar Crimson Tide are ranked highly in their home state, and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of the St. Andrew's Episcopal Lions. Dunbar was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 43-42 to St. Andrew's Episcopal.
St. Andrew's Episcopal found their leader in underclassman Sophia Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The match was Brooks' seventh in a row with at least ten points. Soliya Solomon was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Dunbar's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-5. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Dunbar has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome St. Anne's-Belfield at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th. St. Anne's-Belfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Dunbar likes a good challenge. St. Andrew's Episcopal will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Potomac School at 5:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
