Maine-Endwell has struggled against Elmira recently, as their game on Friday was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Elmira found their leader in underclassman Mariah Matias, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ashaya Wallace, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Maine-Endwell's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Elmira, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Maine-Endwell will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Elmira at 6:45 p.m. on December 13th. Hopefully Elmira focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on December 9th. They won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Owego Free Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 2nd.
