The Newington Nor'easters will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the RHAM Raptors at 5:30 p.m. Newington will be looking to keep their 14-game home win streak alive.
Newington put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Bristol Central 54-34. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-15.
Newington relied on the efforts of Kendall Miller, who scored 13 points along with five steals and four blocks, and Bela Cucuta, who scored 27 points. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which Cucuta has scored at least a third of Newington's points. Haylie Sanchez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
RHAM can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-24 win over Maloney at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win RHAM has managed all season.
Newington's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for RHAM, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9.
Newington beat RHAM 55-46 when the teams last played back in January of 2019. Will Newington repeat their success, or does RHAM have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
