The Kinston Bulldogs lost against the Brantley Bulldogs back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Kinston took a 47-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Brantley. Kinston has not had much luck with Brantley recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Brantley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Grimes, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. The matchup was Grimes' 13th in a row with at least ten points. CoCo Stamps was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Kinston's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Brantley, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kinston won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Emmanuel Christian at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th. Emmanuel Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 603rd, while Kinston is ranked 175th). Brantley will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Luverne at 4:00 p.m. on January 13th.
