After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lincoln, the Leon Lions were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They came out on top against Maclay by a score of 42-35. That's another feather in the cap for Leon, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
It was another big night for Aneila Pierre, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 19 rebounds. Tanner Owens was another key contributor, scoring six points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Maclay lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lauren Guyer, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Journey Kramer, who scored 13 points.
Leon's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Maclay, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.
Leon won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Oakleaf at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. As for Maclay, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Altha at 6:00 p.m. Altha comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last five games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
