The Salem Hills Skyhawks will face off against the West Field Longhorns at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Salem Hills' victory against Cedar Valley wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Skyhawks won by a run and slipped past the Aviators 8-7. The Skyhawks haven't had any issues with the Aviators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Braxton Harrison made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Salem Hills is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-9 otherwise. Harrison was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
In other pitching news, Peyton Higginson tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, Kaleb DeGraffenried was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. He has become a key player for Salem Hills: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Guss Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Salem Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
West Field came out on top against Logan on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Longhorns were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Grizzlies. The Longhorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.
Boston Kap made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Kap was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Penland, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Kason Taylor was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
West Field's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Salem Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.
