The Circleville Tigers will take on the Bloom-Carroll Bulldogs at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Circleville has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while Bloom-Carroll will arrive with 13 straight victories.
Unioto hit Circleville with a four-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers fell just short of the Shermans by a score of 7-6.
Claire Davis made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Fleck, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Bloom-Carroll's hitters rose to the challenge against a Red Devils pitching crew that boasted an average of only three runs allowed on Saturday. The Bulldogs blew past Tippecanoe 13-3. Considering the Bulldogs have won nine games by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Maddi Walters tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Madelyn Gates, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Raychel Grove was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Bloom-Carroll was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .516. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .306 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Bloom-Carroll's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Circleville, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10.
Circleville might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Bloom-Carroll when the teams last played on April 2nd. Will the Tigers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
