Eastern Lebanon County hasn't had much luck against Donegal recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Raiders will venture away from home to challenge the Indians at 4:15 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Eastern Lebanon County and Cocalico have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Raiders came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 7-3.
Braden Gettle was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Queston Rivera and Tyce Boyer did most of the damage at the plate: Rivera went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Boyer went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Donegal). They walked away with a 13-8 win over Octorara Area on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.
Like Eastern Lebanon County, Donegal also got a great game from a two-way player: Devin Bailey. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bailey also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Donegal is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise. Bailey was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Leland Condran was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Shaun DiBello was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Donegal always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Eastern Lebanon County's record now sits at 9-6. As for Donegal, their record is now 8-6.
Eastern Lebanon County couldn't quite get it done against Donegal in their previous meeting on Thursday as they fell 9-5. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
