After flying high against the Greeley West Spartans last Friday, the Longmont Trojans came back down to earth. Longmont fell 50-39 to Silver Creek on Tuesday. Longmont was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Silver Creek apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Loss or not, Longmont got some senior leadership from Savannah Pohl and Stella Rulon. Pohl scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Rulon. scored nine points along with six rebounds and five steals. Pohl hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games.
Silver Creek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Izzy Spagnoletti out in front who scored 16 points along with four steals. Spagnoletti is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Whitney McVeigh was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with four steals and two blocks.
Longmont's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for Silver Creek, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-8.
Longmont will head out on the road to square off against Centaurus at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Centaurus comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Silver Creek, they will be playing at home against Greeley West at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Greeley West is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
