Eldorado is 8-2 against West Mesa since June of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Golden Eagles will challenge the Mustangs at 10:00 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
West Mesa will be up against a hot Eldorado team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Golden Eagles blew past Atrisco Heritage Academy 19-9 on Thursday.
Eldorado got a massive performance out of John Wofford, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI Wofford has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Timothy Kamphuis, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Eldorado lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Atrisco Heritage Academy didn't launched any.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Mesa). Everything went their way against Highland on Tuesday as they made off with a 28-3 win. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Johnathan Sisneros made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because West Mesa is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-9 otherwise. Sisneros was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, Emilio Romero was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs and two RBI. Matthew Rodriguez was another key player, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and two RBI.
Eldorado's record is now 10-2. As for West Mesa, their record now sits at 6-10.
Saturday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eldorado has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .533. However, it's not like West Mesa struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eldorado got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against West Mesa by a conclusive 16-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
