Lake-Lehman has gone 7-1 against Berwick recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Lake-Lehman will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Pittston, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. The Knights narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Patriots 11-10.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Berwick). They put the hurt on Columbia Montour Vo-Tech with a sharp 19-0 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won three matchups by 14 runs or more so far this season.
Morgan Siegel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Berwick got a massive performance out of Makayla Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave Brown a new career-high. Emma Welsh was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Berwick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .786. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Lake-Lehman's win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Berwick, their record is now 5-3.
Lake-Lehman came out on top in a nail-biter against Berwick in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
