Basketball Recap: Central Mountain Falls Despite Big Games from Darius Shade and Hunter Hoy

Central Mountain lost against Selinsgrove back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Central Mountain Wildcats took a 72-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Selinsgrove Seals. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Central Mountain's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Hunter Hoy, who posted 27 points, and Darius Shade, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 19 points. Those 19 points gave Shade a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Wells, who earned nine points and five rebounds.

Selinsgrove's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Bastian, who put up 21 points. Xaivier Jackson was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Central Mountain's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Selinsgrove, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-6.

Central Mountain will be playing at home against Shikellamy at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Central Mountain's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Selinsgrove, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 63-48 defeat against Williamsport on the 16th.
