Basketball Recap: Nicholas Blake Key Part of a Team Effort in Titans Win

Olympia won the last time they faced Boone and things went their way on Friday too. The Olympia Titans secured a 70-66 W over the Boone Braves. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Braves are ranked 212th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Olympia got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nicholas Blake out in front who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and six boards. That's the most points Blake has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was James Nowells, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 21 points.

Despite the loss, Boone had strong showings from Joan Orta, who went 6 for 12 en route to 15 points and five rebounds, and Makauri Massey, who posted 19 points. The match was Orta's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Summer, who had seven points and five boards.

Olympia's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 14-8. As for Boone, they moved to 10-12 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Olympia will venture away from home to take on Apopka at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Olympia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.5 points per game this season. As for Boone, they will head out to face off against Astronaut at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Boone's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 games.
