Pilot Point's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Chumley, who rushed for 150 yards on only 14 carries. Those 150 rushing yards gave Chumley a new career-high. Ashton Williamson was in the mix too, providing Pilot Point with two TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pilot Point was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 415 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 190 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, while Life Oak Cliff put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for A Plus Academy. The Lions simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Knights 55-0.
Pilot Point better keep an eye on Sukora ' Sip' Cooper Jr. He was instrumental in Life Oak Cliff's win, rushing for 202 yards and two scores on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 142 yards and one touchdown. ' Sip' Cooper Jr really tore up the turf during one magnificent 70-yard run. Another back making a difference was Jatavion Smith-Adams, who rushed for 56 yards and three TDs.
Pilot Point is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.5 points over those games. As for Life Oak Cliff, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Pilot Point has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 330.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Life Oak Cliff struggles in that department as they've been averaging 247.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Pilot Point against Life Oak Cliff when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured an 88-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
