Billingsley is 1-9 against Maplesville since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. Billingsley posted their biggest victory yet this season last Tuesday. Everything went their way against Verbena as Billingsley made off with a 55-33 win.
Billingsley found their leader in underclassman Kyle Boice, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Danny Boice was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Maplesville came up short against Thorsby on Thursday and fell 41-32. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Maplesville has scored all season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jakobe Nix, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Wilson, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Billingsley's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-10. As for Maplesville, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Billingsley have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 24.9 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Maplesville, though, as they've been averaging only 26.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Billingsley and Maplesville were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but Billingsley came up empty-handed after a 49-48 defeat. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Maplesville's Nehemiah McCary, who scored 21 points along with four steals.
