Central York and South Western are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
Central York fell victim to Northeastern and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 6-0 to the Bobcats. The Panthers have struggled against the Bobcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Central York got a good showing from Jack Chataginer, who struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times South Western and William Penn had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mustangs came out on top against the Bearcats by a score of 9-5 on Monday. The Mustangs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Seth Sullivan made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Sullivan was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Connor Brennan and Ethan Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Brennan got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Smith went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those two runs gave Brennan a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jason Reese, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
South Western's win bumped their record up to 3-1-1. As for Central York, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-4.
Central York beat South Western 10-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
