The Sioux County Warriors suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Creek Valley by a score of 34-31. Sioux County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Creek Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Sioux County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being William Skavdahl, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and five blocks. Skavdahl is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Gluth, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Creek Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lane Brenneman, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mason Timm, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and seven blocks.
Sioux County's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-8. As for Creek Valley, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sioux County will square off against Morrill at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Morrill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. As for Creek Valley, they will head out on the road to challenge Garden County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Garden County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50 points per game.
