After flying high against Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy last Thursday, Academy for Academic Excellence came back down to earth. The Academy for Academic Excellence Knights fell just short of the University Prep Jaguars by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Academy for Academic Excellence sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 24-26, 25-15, 13-25, 15-10.
Colbie Tworek and Kasandra Duran certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Tworek had ten aces, nine kills, and 23 assists, while Duran had 24 digs and four aces. The dominant performance gave Duran a new career-high in aces.
Academy for Academic Excellence's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for University Prep, they pushed their record up to 16-9-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.
As of now, neither Academy for Academic Excellence nor University Prep have any future games scheduled.
