Aquinas is 3-0 against Melrose-Mindoro since March of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Aquinas Blugolds will be staying on the road to face off against the Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on December 4th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
After only 17 points in their last game, Aquinas made sure to put some points up on the board against La Crosse Logan on Friday. Aquinas strolled past La Crosse Logan with points to spare, taking the game 61-45.
Aquinas got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Samantha Davis out in front who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. The contest was Davis' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Madeline Murphy, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals.
Meanwhile, Melrose-Mindoro got the win against Eleva-Strum on Friday by a conclusive 62-38. Given Melrose-Mindoro's advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Eleva-Strum is ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Niagara's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Aquinas' defeat dropped theirs to 2-3.
Everything went Aquinas' way against Melrose-Mindoro when the teams last played back in March of 2019 as Aquinas made off with a 65-39 win. Will Aquinas repeat their success, or does Melrose-Mindoro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
