The Independence Patriots lost against the Buckeye Hawks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Independence was beaten by Buckeye 62-8. While losing is never fun, Independence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Buckeye is ranked 56th).
Buckeye got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabel Ramirez out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The match was Ramirez's third in a row with at least ten points. Tia Chapman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Independence's loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-6. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 16.4 points per game. As for Buckeye, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Independence won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cactus Shadows at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th. Buckeye won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th.
