Angelique Boot made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alanna Williams, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Anne Wilde, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Rodriguez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasant Grove only posted an OBP of .321.
Meanwhile, Sheldon made easy work of Edison on Wednesday and carried off a 14-2 victory.
Like Rodriguez, Sheldon also got a great game from a two-way player: Kwinci Brown. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). Brown was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Regan Wise was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Sinitalela Heleta was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Rodriguez has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Sheldon, their record now sits at 17-9.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rodriguez hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. However, it's not like Sheldon struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
