The Avoyelles Mustangs fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Pickering, posting a 54-6 victory at home. Avoyelles' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Decareyn Sampson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 319 yards and five touchdowns on only eight carries. Sampson was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 62 yards. Another player making a difference was Kevin Jones, who rushed for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Avoyelles' win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Pickering, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-10.
Avoyelles will look to defend their home field on Friday against Pickering at 7:00 p.m. Pickering comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last ten games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for they, they will head out on the road to face off against Avoyelles at 7:00 p.m. Avoyelles will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
