5A Region III District 23 recap November 5, 2013
Fort Bend Austin moved up to 307 from 347 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region III District 23. The Bulldogs were able to move up by besting Fort Bend Clements 68-28.
Fort Bend Elkins added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Fort Bend Travis, 35-21. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Knights.
Fort Bend Bush's Ronald Monroe and Kasey Poole have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Monroe has thrown for 2,057 yards this season, while Poole has 31 catches for 651 yards. Jonathan Giles from Fort Bend Elkins leads the league in rushing with 716 yards.
As it stands, the Broncos are in second, while Fort Bend Hightower is in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Fort Bend Bush takes on the Hurricanes. Allen Aldridge's team has allowed 174 points this season, while Fort Bend Hightower has given up 154. The Broncos allowed 35 points last week as they beat Fort Bend Dulles.
The Rangers fell to Fort Bend Austin 68-28 last week, the largest margin of any game.
