The Mt. Carmel Sundevils will head out on the road to face off against the Fallbrook Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Mt. Carmel and four for Fallbrook.
Last Thursday, Mt. Carmel came up short against Del Norte and fell 20-10. While losing is never fun, Mt. Carmel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 314th, while Del Norte is ranked 83rd).
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Trevor Taumoepeau, who threw for 221 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Fallbrook's 9-4 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell to Rancho Bernardo 31-26.
Chris Bausch put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Bausch's longest rush was for an incredible 76 yards. Another player making a difference was Evan Thomas, who threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns.
The losses dropped both teams to an identical 3-5.
