Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Twentynine Palms). They enjoyed a cozy 44-25 victory over Indio on Thursday. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Rajahs on their field since October 5, 2018.
Coachella Valley better keep an eye on Josh Reynoso. He was instrumental in Twentynine Palms' win, rushing for 137 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 97 yards and one touchdown. Those 137 rushing yards gave Reynoso a new career-high.
Twentynine Palms didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Aaron Haney and Shad Johnson. Twentynine Palms received some extra help from Jeremiah Perez, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
The win got Twentynine Palms back to even at 4-4. As for Coachella Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Coachella Valley has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 377.2 total yards per game. It's a different story for Twentynine Palms, though, as they've been averaging only 209 total yards. Will Coachella Valley be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Wildcats flip the script?
Everything came up roses for Coachella Valley against Twentynine Palms when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-18 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mighty Arabs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
