Waverly is 8-2 against Okemos since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Waverly Warriors will be playing at home against the Okemos Wolves at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Waverly ended up a good deal behind East Lansing and lost 62-43. While losing is never fun, Waverly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while East Lansing is ranked 142nd).
Meanwhile, Okemos' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 66-47 to Grand Ledge, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Waverly has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Okemos, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Waverly didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Okemos in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 60-54 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Okemos' Maya Kiyak, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Waverly still be able to contain Kiyak? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
