Fort Bend Austin and Ridge Point are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Fort Bend Austin Bulldogs will be home for the holidays to greet the Ridge Point Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Fort Bend Austin comes in on 12 and Ridge Point on three.
Fort Bend Austin has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 games by 29 points or more this season. They breezed by Fort Bend Travis on the road to the tune of 60-19. Given Fort Bend Austin's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while Fort Bend Travis is ranked 627th), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Shun?teria Anumele, who scored 34 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. The matchup was her 16th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Andrea Sturdivant, who scored 14 points along with eight steals and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Ridge Point got the win against Fort Bend Elkins on Friday by a conclusive 62-36. With Ridge Point ahead 38-17 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Fort Bend Austin pushed their record up to 16-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Ridge Point, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Fort Bend Austin was able to grind out a solid win over Ridge Point when the teams last played back in February, winning 35-22. Does Fort Bend Austin have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ridge Point turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
