Softball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Victoria West's Winning Streak

Victoria West fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Victoria East on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Titans by a score of 17-16. The Warriors' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Abigayle Stephens led a balanced group of hitters, going 4-for-6 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Celeste Kubicek, who scored four runs while going 3-for-5.

Victoria West's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Victoria East, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-14 record this season.

Victoria West will head out to face off against Ingleside at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Warriors' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Victoria East, they will welcome Terry at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rangers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.25 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
