The Cassville Wildcats suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 55-35 defeat at the hands of Marionville. While losing is never fun, Cassville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while Marionville is ranked 169th).
Lucy Newberry was her usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with five rebounds and five steals for Marionville. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Newberry has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maggie Murphy, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Cassville's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Marionville, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cassville will square off against Spokane on Friday. As for Marionville, they will head out on the road to challenge Sarcoxie at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
