Innovation's batters probably weren't too happy with Anna Conroy, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Conroy has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Johalis Rivera-Colon, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Keira Davis was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Lake Region had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the Fightin' Tigers. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won 14 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Makenna Meadows made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meadows was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Lake Region got a massive performance out of Bailee Ellis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits Ellis has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Margaret Jenkins, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Lake Region always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lake Wales' win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Lake Region, their victory bumped their record up to 23-3.
Lake Wales suffered a grim 8-2 defeat to Lake Region in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Can the Highlanders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
