It was a good run, but the Ysleta Indians unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 59-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Del Valle. Ysleta was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Del Valle apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Ysleta still got an impressive performance from Azaiah Thompson, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Brandon Rodriguez was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
It was another big night for Ryu Nunez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds for Del Valle. Nunez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Byan Mei, who scored seven points along with six steals.
Ysleta's loss dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Del Valle, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ysleta will square off against Hanks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hanks has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Del Valle, they will head out on the road to challenge Horizon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Del Valle is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Horizon in Texas (Del Valle is ranked 551st, while Horizon is ranked 1174th).
