First, there was a commitment from Top 10 prospect
Edrice "Bam" Adebayo on Tuesday morning. That was followed by an impressive 74-63 win over Duke at the United Center in Chicago yesterday evening.
Wednesday, the basketball world woke up to news of
247Sports Composite No. 6 overall prospect
Malik Monk of
Bentonville (Ark.) also committing to UK.
Monk, a 6-foot-4 guard, outlined his decision via Twitter:
Trey Schaap of 103.7 The Buzz in Little Rock was among the first to report the development and stirred up a little controversy with the Razorbacks crowd while he was at it.As a junior at Bentonville, Monk averaged 26.9 points per game en route to MaxPreps Junior All-American honors. He put up 50 in a January game at the Bass Pro Shops Tournament of Champions then outclassed the field in the dunk contest 45 minutes later.
Monk and Bentonville will participate in the
MaxPreps Holiday Classic in late December.
In addition to Monk and Adebayo, the Wildcats have 2016 commitments from 6-4 point guard
De'Aaron Fox, 6-10 forward
Sacha Killeya-Jones and 6-9 forward
Wenyen Gabriel – all Top 30 prospects.
