Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, a fact Westville proved on Friday. They claimed a resounding 73-34 win over Tri-Township at home. The win was just what Westville needed coming off of a 75-45 loss in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaden Pepper, who scored 18 points along with 7 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gavin Hannon , who scored 8 points along with 8 assists and 6 steals.
Meanwhile, Boone Grove's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 58-47 to Washington Township.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jack Stevens, who scored 19 points. The matchup was his third in a row with at least ten points. Hunter Noonan was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 10 rebounds.
The victory got Westville back to even at 1-1. As for Boone Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
Everything came up roses for Westville against Boone Grove in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 51-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
