Port Clinton hasn't had much luck against Edison recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Redskins are taking a road trip to take on the Chargers at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Port Clinton barely beat Fostoria the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Redskins were the clear victors by an 18-4 margin over the Redmen on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Redskins needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
Ashton Sanchez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Bella Belden was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karley Hibner, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.
Port Clinton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .800. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Edison waltzed into their match on Saturday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They blew past the Pirates 16-2. Considering the Chargers have won 12 contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Edison also got a great performance from Jordyn Perry as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits.
At the plate, Peyton Bissell was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Natalie Desautels also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Edison pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Port Clinton, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Port Clinton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Edison struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Port Clinton might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Edison in their previous meeting on Friday. Can the Redskins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
