The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs will be playing at home against the Pine View Panthers at 7:00 p.m. Crimson Cliffs has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Crimson Cliffs pushed their score all the way to 58 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hurricane. Crimson Cliffs has not had much luck with Hurricane recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Colleen Korella, who scored 23 points along with seven assists and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Kinsey Plewe was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, Pine View's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 60-45 fall against Cedar. While losing is never fun, Pine View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Cedar is ranked 20th).
Like Pine View, they lost despite seeing results from several players. Reese Gustin led the charge by scoring 14 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Casey Morley, who scored 12 points.
Crimson Cliffs has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. As for Pine View, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-17.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Crimson Cliffs have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pine View struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
