Basketball Game Preview: Peninsula Seahawks vs. North Thurston Rams

Peninsula is 2-8 against North Thurston since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Peninsula Seahawks will venture away from home to face off against the North Thurston Rams at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Peninsula is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Mount Tahoma: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Peninsula blew Mount Tahoma out of the water with a 70-9 final score. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Seahawks had established a 51 point advantage.

Grace Richardson was nothing short of spectacular: she dropped a double-double on 30 points and 14 steals. The contest was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Michaels, who posted ten points.

Meanwhile, North Thurston hadn't done well against Lincoln recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. North Thurston blew past Lincoln 71-28. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 43 points or more this season.

North Thurston's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.8 points. As for Peninsula, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.

Peninsula was taken down by North Thurston 76-48 when the teams last played back in February. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of North Thurston's Soraya Ogaldez, who went 11 of 22 on her way to 30 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Now that Peninsula knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
