The Herscher Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Herscher is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Herscher nor Dwight made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Trojans. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Nash Brubaker spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tanner Jones, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 12 games.
Meanwhile, Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Bearcats. The Falcons' pitching crew has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a run in their last three contests.
David Hull made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hull was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs. He has become a key player for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise.
In other batting news, Trent Wethererll was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Brayden Elliott, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Herscher pushed their record up to 25-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, their record now sits at 12-9.
Herscher was able to grind out a solid victory over Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
