Chambers/Wheeler Central hasn't had much luck against Central Valley recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades will face off against the Central Valley Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Chambers/Wheeler Central will be strutting in after a victory while Central Valley will be coming in after a loss.
Chambers/Wheeler Central is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Newman Grove/St. Edward: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Chambers/Wheeler Central's way against Newman Grove/St. Edward on Friday as Chambers/Wheeler Central made off with a 49-24 win. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Renegades had established a 22 point advantage.

Chambers/Wheeler Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Kluver led the charge by to rack up 15 points and eight boards. Chambers/Wheeler Central is 2-1 when Kluver posts eight or more rebounds, but 9-11 otherwise. Michael Jesse was another key player, dropping a double-double with 14 points and ten boards.
Chambers/Wheeler Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Central Valley lost to Riverside at home by a 61-42 margin on Friday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Chambers/Wheeler Central will have to keep a close watch on Zevan Wolf and Taesian Soto, a pair of players who had a big impact on Central Valley's prior game. Wolf posted nine points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Soto almost dropped a double-double with nine points and nine boards. That's the most steals Wolf has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Grant Dusatko, who earned eight points.
Chambers/Wheeler Central's victory bumped their record up to 11-12. As for Central Valley, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 15-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Chambers/Wheeler Central has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 32.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Central Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 33.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Chambers/Wheeler Central couldn't quite finish off Central Valley when the teams last played back in December of 2024 and fell 54-52. Can Chambers/Wheeler Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
