Merrimack Valley - Division 1 recap October 22, 2013
Andover scaled the state rankings by moving to 52 from 90 this week, the biggest jump in Merrimack Valley - Division 1. The Golden Warriors climbed the ranks as a result of topping La Salle Academy 49-32.
Jack Sylvester was a passing and rushing force as Andover topped the Rams. Sylvester's favorite target this week was Will Eikenberry, who caught 6 passes for 31 yards.
Jack Galvin was the best wideout in the league this week as Lowell defeated Chelmsford. Galvin tallied 8 receptions for 58 yards. Ngaiiva Mason helped Lowell's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 44 yards.
The Red Raiders' Brian Dolan and Galvin led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Dolan has thrown for 879 yards this season, while Galvin has 34 catches for 496 yards. Sylvester from E J Perry's team leads the league in rushing with 518 yards.
The Golden Warriors' offense has scored 157 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Lowell has allowed only 78 on the year.
Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when John Florence's team's Galvin goes up against Andover's Eikenberry.
Next week's game between the Red Raiders and the Golden Warriors will feature a good passing match up as Dolan will test his arm against Eikenberry's defensive ability.
At the moment, the Lions are in third, while Central Catholic is in first.
The league will see a high scoring game when Lowell and Andover face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Red Raiders comes in having scored 146 this season, while the Golden Warriors have scored 157. Lowell scored 14 points last week as it defeated Chelmsford.
Andover led Merrimack Valley - Division 1 in scoring this week after putting up 49 points on La Salle Academy. Oliver Eberth threw for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 58 yards in the win.
